The people behind the CMJ Music Marathon have released a statement following an Ebola scare at one of their events last week.
Earlier this week Dr. Craig Spencer was revealed as the first New York resident to contract the deadly Ebola virus, after being out on Wednesday night at venue, the Gutter in Williamsburg. The Gutter had been hosting unofficial CJM events which were subsequently cancelled when news broke of the patient.
After some thought, the organisers behind the event have now issued a short statement regarding the event saying that the festival, which boasts over 1300 artists performing in 80 venues, will now go ahead as planned.
According to a statement via Billboard, CMJ said: “We have been diligently following the news on Ebola and will continue to be proactive of the situation and circumstances. At this time CMJ will continue on as scheduled and if anything should change we will act accordingly.”
