Jack Bruce, member of iconic British rock trio Cream has sadly passed away at age 71.
His family issued a statement on 25 October about the passing and said: “It is with great sadness that we, Jack’s family, announce the passing of our beloved Jack: husband, father, granddad, and all round legend. The world of music will be a poorer place without him but he lives on in his music and forever in our hearts.”
As well as being a part of Cream, Bruce also performed sessions for Lou Reed and Frank Zappa and also took part in a variety of blues based bands, including Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band, BBM and John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers.
Former bandmate Eric Clapton was one of many stars to react to the passing online and posted on Facebook: “It is with great sadness that we learned that Jack Bruce had passed away this morning at his home in England. ‘He was a great musician and composer, and a tremendous inspiration to me’ ec”
Slash, Ringo Starr, Peter Hook and Steve Jones were among the many iconic rock musicians that were saddened by Bruce’s passing as well.
Jack Bruce (1943-2014) was amazing as a member of Cream. Plus his solo record "Things We Like" gave Smif n Wessun the sample for "Bucktown"
