Shakira has partnered up with Fisher-Price to release a line of baby toys.
The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker has revealed that the First Steps range will be available next month. The range includes six products, such as alphabet blocks and a football which plays music, which is a nice nod to her boyfriend Gerard Pique who is a football player for FC Barcelona.
All of the proceeds will benefit her Barefoot Foundation, which is a foundation Shakira founded in 1997 to provide education and nutrition to children in impoverished areas of Columbia.
Executive vice president of the Fisher-Price Global Brands Team spoke highly of the singer and said: “She brings in both authenticity and emotion and that’s why I think this is such an exciting moment.”
Speaking of the inspiration behind creating the line, Shakira said in a statement: “I saw how important developmental milestones are and how toys can help babies reach them – including with my own son. I wanted to design a line of toys that stimulated development in the crucial early stages of life, the stages in which learning can be achieved through supervised play, fostering the development of psychological, social and motor skills.”
Shakira’s name will of course help to sell Fisher-Price toys, as it was announced earlier this year that Shakira is the most ‘liked’ musician on Facebook.
