As someone who claims to have slept with nearly 5,0000 women, Kiss frontman Gene Simmons' clearly consides himself something of an expert on gender inequality: as such he has called for women to "stop depending on men".
While promoting his new self-help book 'Me, Inc.: Build an Army of One, Unleash Your Inner Rock God, Win in Life and Business', Simmons recommended women starting their own career to become more self sufficent.
He told Fox News: "Women should assume men will abandon them and thus devote their early lives to making money to support themselves."
As reported by Rolling Stone, Simmons went on to elaborate: "This is a very complex and difficult question to answer so I'm going to put it as simply as possible. Women: Stop depending on men," Simmons concluded by asking the (female) interviewer to imagine a world without male species. "Imagine there are no men in life. Find out that thing that you're good for that makes the money and then get married and or have children from a position of strength."

Simmons has had a very quotable but endlessly controversial year, most recently telling an interviewer that "Rock n' roll has been murdered" and those considering suicide should "Shut the fuck up, have some dignity and jump!"
