Taylor Swift has trademarked the phrase "This Sick Beat", along with other key lyrics that appear on her latest album 1989.
Filing the claim to the US Patent and Trademark Office, Swift is now the only person allowed to use the string of phrases on merchandise, in an attempt to stop bootlegs being sold without Swift's permission.
"Nice to meet you. Where you been?" and "Party like it's 1989" have also been trademarked by the singer, meaning her alone will profit from items sold with those phrases.

Swift herself is yet to comment on the business move, however it's definitely now become clear what merchandise to expect at her forthcoming shows.
The singer will return to the UK in May to headline BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Norwich, before playing a string of dates around the country in June, including a headline slot at British Summertime in Hyde Park.
