Spotify have announced the first professional DJ software with Spotify integration in the form of DJay Pro, potentially increasing your record collection by 20 million tracks.
Created by Algoriddim (whose DJ apps for Mac and iPhone have already been downloaded 15 million times) DJay Pro is the first professional version of their turntable simulator for the desktop.
Costing £34.99 in the App store, it is simultaneously an advanced DJ app that won't frighten off the casual house party beat matcher. It's most impressive feature is a powerful four deck view that allows DJs to play, mix and synchronize up to four tracks from Spotify simultaneously (particularly useful for all those of you looking to emulate Masters At Work in their late Nineties prime).
Other features include 64-bit processing, multi-core track analysis, support for Retina and 5K displays, graphics rendering at 60 frames per second, horizontal and vertical colored waveforms, live sampler and drum pads, as well as the chance to buy additional audio effects. It also supports existing DJ hardware, including over 50 midi controllers by the likes of Pioneer and Numark.
One feature particularly worthy of note is that you can seamlessly combine songs from Spotify along with tracks from iTunes. This means that you'll be able to incorporate that Taylor Swift song you keep getting requests for or alternatively drop something estoteric from Theo Parrish you've downloaded.
For those creatively bankrupt types Spotify will even suggest the best track to follow your songs with - something which sounds perfect when it gets to 2am and your New Year's bash is only just getting started.
