Albama-born indie favourite Waxahatchee - aka Katie Crutchfield - has revealed the first single from her new album Ivy Tripp. Listen to 'Air' below.
'Air' is a guitar-driven track whose strident vocals provide a space for Crutchfield to pour her heart out, sounding something a little like a less-breathy Haim.
'Ivy Tripp' sees a change in themes from previous album 'Cerulean Salt', displaying more confidence and identification with the place that Crutchfield finds herself in now.
The album is recorded and engineered by Kyle Gilbride of Waxahatchee's home town of Long Island, with the drums recorded in the gym of a local elementary school. Crutchfield says of the album, “I think a running theme [of Ivy Tripp] is steadying yourself on shaky ground and reminding yourself that you have control in situations that seem overwhelming.”

Waxahatchee will play a solo show later this month at St Pancras Old Church in London, and has just announced a European tour with a full band.
