Let It Reign sounds as ferocious as fans would expect from Carl Barat. Single ‘A Storm Is Coming’ sounds brash and opinionated whilst 'Victory Gin' is a triumphant reflection Barat’s newfound sense of renewed spirit. There is a real feeling when listening to the album that Barat is not exploring his chaotic side, but rather his maturer, confident persona.

Recently, Carl Barat claimed to Loaded Magazine that there is a ghost on the album. Barat said that on earlier versions of the track ‘We Want More’ a piano could be heard even though the track was recorded without one.
The Libertines icon said: “I eventually played piano on it. But before that was added, the engineer pointed out there was a piano playing on the song when there wasn’t one in the room. I’m hoping the ghost of Liberace will turn up again when we play it live.”
