Chvrches say that album No.2 is 'coming along nicely'

Could we hear their new LP later this year?

Good news for Chvrches fans - the band are currently in the studio and say that progress on album No.2 is 'coming along nicely'.

The Scottish synth-pop trio (whose debut was Gigwise's Album Of The Year) are now working on the follow-up to their exquisite 2013 album, The Bones Of What You Believe - so it looks like that's another awesome release to look foward to later this year.

"We've been busy in the studio in recent weeks working on our second album," say the band in a statement. "The new songs are coming along very nicely and we can't wait to share them with you..."

The band, who recently unveiled one-off tracks 'Get Away' and 'Dead Air' from Zane Lowe's Drive and The Hunger Games soundtracks respectively, say that their new album will be a 'progression' but not unfamiliar - taking in more of a Prince and Michael Jackson influence.

"Everyone knows you don't go mad weird until your third record," synth player Martin Doherty told Gigwise last year. "First album, you establish yourself, second album is similar but better and third album you can go as weird as you like."

Chvrches are also nominated for Best Breakthrough Act at this week's BRIT Awards (which is totally deserved but just highly unusual considering their debut came out in 2013).
