Ahead of their Brits performance tonight, Royal Blood have cited some unlikely inspiration behind their signature sound - including B*Witched, Papa Roach and the Beach Boys.
In an interview with The Times, the band agree about their debt to Led Zeppelin but also suggest that other musical influences helped shape them.
"My elder sisters were into [Nineties girl band] B*Witched and that had a big effect on me," said frontman Mike Kerr. "J Sainsbury's, the store would supply me with CDs. I bought the Beach Boys' greatest hits there. And as a chubby 11-year old I was big into my Playstation. I would play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and that introduced me to [rap-metal bands] Rage Against the Machine and Papa Roach, all important staples in my upbringing."
Royal Blood are set to perform at the BRIT Awards tonight (Wednesday 25 February), alongside the likes of Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Madonna, Take That, Royal Blood, George Ezra and Sam Smith. Royal Blood are also favourites to win Best Group with odds of 2/1.
