Fresh from triumphant headline shows at Reading and Leeds, The Libertines kicked off ‘Somewhere Over The Railings’ at Camden’s Dublin Castle pub last night with a photography exhibition from Roger Sargent.

The beginning of a week-long set of events held in anticipation of new album, Anthems for Doomed Youth, gave lucky fans the chance to view and take home shots from their recent Thailand recording sessions.

With the pub reimagined as a dark room for the evening, Sargent, who has a long-standing relationship with the band, made an appearance alongside bassist John Hassall. Both were happy to drink and chat with fans, one of whom had been to both Reading and Leeds shows.

Hassall also revealed to Gigwise that he is particularly looking forward to the new record, as he felt “more involved” this time around. Speaking of last year’s Hyde Park show that sparked the reunion and album, he described it as “like one of the early gigs, but with 60,000 people. It was intense”

The band today announced a series of intimate club gigs to coincide with the 11 September  album release, and will round off '…Over The Railings' with a special launch party at the Dublin Castle pub this Friday.

For those who didn’t manage to get tickets to the week’s events, the band are also running a pop-up bucket shop next door to the pub, selling memorabilia and rarities. All proceeds go to the Rock ‘n’ Roll rescue charity. Check out our guided tour below
