In news that will surprise very few, Kendrick Lamar's new album To Pimp A Butterfly has broken all streaming records.
The album, which was released early on Monday was streamed a total of 9.6 million times on the day of release, which surpasses previous record of Michael Bublé's Christmas of 9.5 million in 2014. This is the highest amount of streams recorded in the service's entire seven year history.
Following the early release of the record by Interscope (apparently without Kendrick's knowledge), Anthony Tiffith of Top Dawg Entertainment, who represent Lamar tweeted: “I WOULD LIKE 2 PERSONALLY THANK @Interscope FOR FUCKING UP OUR RELEASE … SOMEBODY GOTS 2 PAY 4 THIS MISTAKE !!!!”

Now he seems to have got on board however, tweeting the following:

Meanwhile the record has been cleaning up across the spectrum, recieving stellar reviews across the board. Gigwise editor Andy Morris called it: "truly one of truly great hip-hop albums of recent times". Read the full review here.
