The police are in the process of creating a national database to tackle festival crime.
Speaking at the Intelligence Engagement conference at the O2 in London on March 19, deputy chief constable Andy Adams of Hertfordshire Police announced the plan, asking the various authorities in attendance to help with tracking trends, repeat offenders and monitoring gangs in Europe.
He said: “Some of my colleagues have done work in this field for the past couple of years, but we haven’t all coordinated until now. There are already some great relationships between the police and industry out there, but there is still a lot of work to do on both sides.”
According to Live UK, the scheme will target issues such as counterfeit ticketing, ticket touts, pickpockets, drug abuse, insider theft and violent crime.
