The MTV VMA nominations have been revealed, and alongside the likes of Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar, Arctic Monkeys have been nominated for a two-year-old video.
We suspect there probably aren't many strict rules when it comes to nomination criteria, but it seems strange that 'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?', which was uploaded on 10 August 2013, should be nominated two years late. There have been two VMAs between then and now.
Then again, nominated in the same Best Rock Video category is Hozier's 'Take Me To Church', which was released in September 2013. The rest of the nominees are far more recent - 'Fall Out Boy's 'Uma Thurman', Florence + The Machine's 'Ship To Wreck' and Walk The Moon's 'Shut Up and Dance'.

Elsewhere, the coveted Video Of The Year nominations went to Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Mark Ronson and Kendrick Lamar.
British artists have come up trumps in the Artist To Watch category, with George Ezra, James Bay and FKA Twigs joining Fetty Wap and Vance Joy.
As previously reported, Nicki Minaj received three nominations, but hit out at the "white media" for the preferential treatment it affords "slim" white women. Taylor Swift took issue with the comments.
