Arthur took a nasty, pointless pop at previous X Factor winner and fan of hats Matt Cardle, saying his music was for "bedwetters" and would make his fans "fall asleep." Cardle responded by calling Arthur "deeply unpleasant" (agreed), before later sassily pointing out his album sold 10,000 copies more than Arthur's. ZING! Cardle also wished Arthur well, making him look even more of a horrible bully.

James Arthur has sacked his PA on Twitter, blaming him for a string of sexual, aggressive text messages sent to a model.

The fiasco began when model Teddy Edwardes (nope, us neither) posted a screenshot of an apparent conversation between herself and Arthur on Twitter, in which he tells her he'd like to "f*ck the living sh*t" out of her. After she declines, Arthur delivered some of the most toe-curlingly horrendous 'put-downs' to Edwardes, in which he told her not to "flatter" herself.

Arthur promptly denied Edwardes' claims, announcing to his fans he had "never met" the model. Bad idea - she then posted a series of more texts from the singer, much to the delight of her followers. Arthur then blocked Edwardes.

Arthur continued to deny the texts were from him, which prompted Edwardes to publish the X Factor winner's number on Twitter. Arthur then claimed the number was actually his PA's, to which Edwardes, and everyone else, dubbed a big fat "LIE".

In a further twist, Arthur's ex-mate and fellow former X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan confirmed the number to be the 'Impossible' singer's, before deleting the tweet.
