After 15 years in the business, Sia has finally become a huge pop sensation with her single 'Chandelier' in the UK Top Ten and album 1000 Forms Of Fear set to follow suit, but the star has revealed it took her less than an hour to pen one of the biggest pop anthems of the year. Not bad going at all.
Having made a name for herself as one of the most in-demand songwriters in music, and penning hits for the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Celine Dion and many, many more, Sia reveals in a new (and rare) interview with NPR that she had officially retired from music, before she wrote 'Chandelier' - and didn't want to give it to another artist.
"I wrote the song because there's so many party-girl anthems in pop," she tells the US website. "And I thought it'd be interesting to do a different take on that. For some reason ... I didn't wanna give it away."
"I mean, 'Chandelier' took like four minutes to write the chords, then like 12-15 minutes to write the lyrics," she added, admitting it was done and dusted in what many would consider a generous lunch hour. "Probably 10 or 15 minutes to cut the vocals."

The star has done little in the way of interviews for the single or album, and also adds that due to her financial situation, she really doesn't need to.
"I don't need to promote this album at all," she continues, "because I make enough money to live nicely from all my pop songwriting."
"I'm trying to have a good life. Basically, my plan is to enjoy what I have."
