The album, which will be released on 10 June through Third Man Records, is White's second solo album and is the follow up to 2012's Blunderbuss. Initially it was delayed due to a severe case of writers block, it was then picked up again after White read a play that he penned as a 19 year-old.
“And then I thought, before I [throw these away], why don’t I pull some of these characters out, some of these names, some of these sentences, and work with them?" he told NPR. "And I did. And it became a way to collaborate with my younger self.”

As for the sound of the album, White has described it as a melting pot of sounds that incoporates garage rock all the way to country. “I don’t pick my style and then write a song,” he told Rolling Stone. “I just write whatever comes out of me, and whatever style it is what it is, and it becomes something later.”
