As the walkman turns 35, look back at some of the bizarre retro portable music devices

This week is the 35th birthday of the Walkman, that funny little tape thing that people used to use in the 80s. It is a bonafide piece of music history and for many of us would have coincided with our very first experinces with music; whether you were secretly bopping to Michael Jackson in your room or listening to story tapes on long car journeys.
The Walkman opened up a whole new market within music tech, the portable one that we know so well today. Before the iPod and smart phones dominated the market, there were some seriously random gadgets and bids for success out there. These are our top 11 nostalgic music gadgets from the era, some are awesome and some are just rubbish.
