King Adora optimistically chose Liverpool University’s Academy 2 for their 16th show in the full UK tour for second album ‘Who Do You Love?’, released in March. Whether it's the quality of the record, or simply symptomatic of the band's overall decline, roughly 25 people have turned up tonight.

Having hit the peak of their career nearly three years ago and with little released since, it’s not surprising that Birmingham’s most recent glam rock band has slipped from the collective conscious. It’s almost embarrassing to watch, knowing that a band who had at one point the potential to reinvigorate sleazy pop slip into a bitter decline.

Their cover of Nancy Sinatra’s 'These Boots Are Made for Walking', whilst excellent, is aimed squarely at doubters. Perhaps rather than buying a new pair of boots, it’d probably be better if King Adora went home, took last week’s make up off and had a good hard look in the mirror.

There’s nothing worse than seeing a band in this state, like a desperate animal cornered, their songs sound spiteful in all the wrong ways and during the night’s laughable stage invasion you can’t help but take a step back and wonder where it all went wrong.

Songs such as 'Smoulder', 'Suffocate' and 'Bionic' are dispatched like cheating partners; once bristling with true electric abandon, now thrown out in a bitterness-consumed rage.

Trashy glam rock covered in eye liner and lip gloss is usually a good thing, but after much hope and hype King Adora are an embarrassment. The band’s new album is going nowhere and they clearly know it. The resentment and frustration has set in... next stop? Rachel Stamp-ville.
