Everybody knows that David Guetta is one of the biggest DJs in the world right now, andthis week he took the the Roundhouse to play from his rolodex of club anthems.
Before the king of house, stepped onto the podium, it was up to Robin Schulz and Clean Bandit to set the tone for the evening. Robin Schulz played for the early crowds with such enthusiasm that it was difficult not to get into the vibe, Clean Bandit followed with a melodic set, heavily focussed on their instruments. 'Rather Be', one of the biggest dance songs this year sounded as good, if not better live.
For the main event, the countdown from ten began in anticipation of David Guetta entering the stage, his name glittered in lights and his hair flowed down to his shoulders. The Roundhouse is a far cry from EDM-centric Ultra Festival and Ibiza but he certainly brought the party.
Starting with 'Shot Me Down', the crowd burst into song, dance and pressing record on their iPhones. “Let me see if you remember this one” he questioned as 'Love Don’t Let Me Go' was blasted to the crowd, coming over all nostalgic I was transported back to my high school days. Carnage ensued when 'Bad' was played and from then on Guetta churned out tune after tune, 'Ain’t A Party Without Me' was a particular highlight as well as 'Work Hard, Play Hard' and summer anthem 'Lovers In The Sun' to which Guetta took time out to give thanks for it going to number one.
Unsurprisingly, 'Titanium' sent crowds into a frenzy as did sing alongs to 'Let Her Go' and 'Wonderwal'l, followed by bass heavy beats. Last night was riotous fun with an impressive lights and effect heavy show and Guetta himself might be the happiest, most energetic man in EDM.
