Four Tet has revealed his remix of Coldplay's 'Fix You' on Jon Hopkins' Radio 1 Residency.
The track was initially commissioned by the band presumably around ten years ago, following the release of X&Y. Once submitted by Kieran Hebden it was shelved (criminally so) and has only just seen the light of day. Head over to iPlayer where you can give the song a listen at the 25:50 mark.
As far as the production goes, it takes the ambient edge of Four Tet's production and creates a shimmering backing track that sounds like it's made from wind chimes and mobiles. It fits the vocals nicely and builds in sync with Chris Martin.
Also whatever you may or may not think about Coldplay, Hebden describes the isolated vocal as one of the best takes he has ever heard.
Coldplay are currently favourites to headline Glastonbury, joining Foo Fighters. The bill is usually revealed towards the end of March, but reliable website eFestivals states they are 'confident' that Coldplay will top the Pyramid Stage - listing them as 'To Be Confirmed' on the line-up. They did the same for Kasabian and Metallica last year, long before they were announced.
Glastonbury Festival 2015 takes place at Worthy Farm in Somerset from 24 - 28 June 2015. Lionel Richie and The Foo Fighters are the only acts to be confirmed so far (alongside the Dalai Lama), while other rumours include Queen + Adam Lambert, Taylor Swift, Elton John, The Libertines and more.
