The elusive and fearless Dean Blunt has released the video for his track '100', and continues his legacy of trolling by putting Idris Elba on the spot this time.
Elba is not a fan of Blunt's track, and he made this very clear in an interview with Noisey, saying: "It's cleary avant garde, and he's a musician, no doubt... but it was just a bit too experimental for my tastes." An innocent enough expression of dislike, it seems, until he continued later on: "It quickly turned into background noise for me". He then clinched it with the finisher, "I could make a whole album like this on my iPad. Although, if I did, everyone would tell me to fuck right off." Ouch.
However Elba underestimated Blunt's love of confrontation. In response, he decided to open the video with the full transcript of Elba's review of the track, before the music begins. A moment of silence for everyone to meditate on Elba's words - a subtle but effective middle finger to Elba himself.
The video itself is simple and filmed in close proximity - it consists of Blunt driving around The Bronx with his bodyguard at night. The whole video is tinged with a sense of impending danger, which contrasts the gentle lightness of the track, and it is very effective. (But obviously not to Idris Elba)
