Five reasons to go and see 50 Cent on tour

Why you need to catch Fiddy on the road

50 Cent UK tour, five reasons to go - tickets Photo: Wenn

This week sees tickets to 50 Cent's upcoming UK tour go on sale. But why bother? Is Fiddy still relevant? Has his star faded or does he have life after 2004? Well, we think you really ought to check him out - and here are five reasons why.

See below for full dates and ticket details of 50 Cent's upcoming UK tour

1. HE HAS SO MANY HITS - Fiddy might not be the trendsetter he was back in 2003, but after a seven year run dominating the world of Hip Hop there’s no denying his back catalogue of hits. Whether it’s ‘In Da Club’, ‘Hate It Or Love It’ or ‘Ayo Technology’, he has plenty of smashes. During his two hour non-stop performance at The O2 Arena on Friday, Fid asked his DJ, “I haven’t ran out of hits, have I?” It was then the G-Unit rapper explained that he would be fined for running over his allocated time. Essentially saying 'fuck the curfew', he then proceeded to keep performing.

2. NEED A RELEASE? 50 CAN HELP YOU - Rap music has long been known to control the emotions of its listeners, tapping into all sorts of moods and moments. Looking for some aggressive music to help you blow off some steam? With tracks like ‘What Up Gangsta’, ‘My Buddy’ and ‘Your Life’s On The Line’, 50 Cent might just be a remedy for your bad day, bad week, or bad year. It’s been a while since Hip Hop has had a bad guy as popular as 50, seeing him live should be something prescribed by doctors to cure stress.

3. HE HAS FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES - While it’s been made pretty obvious over the years that 50 Cent has a lot of enemies… a lot, he also has a lot of high-profile artists in his corner. Always someone who loves to bring a friend to the party, there’s always the possibility that any of his G-Unit crew will turn up - so that’s Lloyd Banks, Young Buck (if he’s allowed back in the country), Tony Yayo, and new member Kidd Kidd - his new artist Rotimi might stop by, but let’s not forget he’s tight with Eminem. Now that would be a live reunion not to miss.

4. YOU’RE GUARANTEED NOT TO SEE ANY SKINNY JEANS - 50’s from the old school. He’s from an era where selling drugs on the corner was the topic of discussion on record. Today’s so-called Hip Hop culture is full of skinny jean-wearing rappers with dyed hair and signature dance moves who (try to) sing more than they rap. 50’s era was one that included freestyles that were actually off the top of the head and not read from an iPhone or Blackberry. So at a 50 Cent show you’re ears are guaranteed to experience some tough talking from a dude who looks more like a superhero rocking Timberland boots and a hoody.

5. RELIVE HIS 2003 BUZZ - Do you remember where you were when you first heard about 50 Cent? There was no escaping the bullet-proof MC or his G-Unit crew. He changed the mixtape game forever. He was the last rapper to be certified Diamond, selling 12 million records worldwide. Wouldn’t you like to be transported back to a time when rap was rap and people actually purchased music? Mixing his sets up with some of his old mixtape cuts, here’s your chance to shout out “G, G, G, G, G, G-Unit” somewhere other than your living room without your neighbour looking at you weird the next time you cross paths on the communal staircase.
