Country music icon and best-selling solo artist in America Garth Brooks has announced an exclusive deal with Amazon. This deal will see him stream new albums on their recently announced ‘Amazon Music Unlimited service.
This week has seen the singer/songwriter’s latest single ‘Let’s Lay Down and Dance’ from the upcoming album ‘Gunslinger’ stream on the site.
The website are also offering a number of Brooks’ previous albums, including His best-selling ‘Ultimate Hits’ and Double Live’ releases.
These included the country stars hits such as ‘Friends in Low Places’, ‘The Dance’, ‘Papa Loved Mama’, ‘Unanswered Prayers’ and ‘Shameless’. Among so many others.
Amazon Music will add more music from Brooks (under this deal) later this year, including upcoming new holiday album “Christmas Together” with his wife and country star Trisha Yearwood and “Gunslinger,” the artist’s first album since 2014.
This will also see the company become the official sponsor of the singers current tour (continuing into 2017).
This new on demand service is set to undercut its rivals and will see other big names join its ranks.
Garth has been winning awards pretty much he hit the country music scene in 1989, he is known for his visually impressive and exciting live shows and has won all manner of inductions into various Halls’ of Fame.
Yet he did step away from the music industry when he hooked up with fellow country singer Trisha Yearwood and became a house husband.
In 1999 Brooks tried to re-imagine himself as a fictional singer Chris Gaines, which failed miserably. Although some of the Gaines' songs were very impressive.
He then returned to his musical roots and got back on track. His albums selling beyond even his own imagination.
The only real glitch in the Garth Brooks history has been his ill-fated re-emergence as a country music star in Ireland. He and his management, the Irish TV/publications and everyone else all went crazy that he was returning to live music in the Republic of Ireland’s Croke Park venue.
Much was made of this across the globe and it was hyped to the hilt. However as the interest grew and tickets sales escalated it became apparent that things were not going well.
There were restrictions with the venue and as the gigs grew to five, residents opted to use their clout and stop them.
Whether it was Brooks’ management or the promoters it became evident that someone messed up and they could in no way sell-out so many events without having the residents nearby in agreement.
It is rumoured that the country was hit by loss of revenue in hotels, travel companies and much more for those live shows. Exact costs are vague, but they do appear to be in the region of 50million Euros.
There were also over 400,000 people who needed refunds.
Here's hoping that this is Garth’s return to the big time that he missed out on in 2014 and if he ever returns to Ireland he can repay them with something very special indeed.
