Daniel Woolhouse released breathtaking experimental pop with a voice so achingly expressive he gives James Blake a run for his money. His debut album Life After Defo in 2013 produced by Rodaidh McDonald (The XX) was one of the best of 2013. His 2014 follow up Songs won plaudits left right and centre.

After sometime in the shadows, Woolhouse has returned and is producing under his own name. He releases his album What's That Sound? on 28 October. It's a more fleshed-out, hook-laden and euphoric collection while still retaining the while still retaining a soulful intimacy of his earlier work.

The title track to it which is already out suggests one of the most vibrant aspects of his output with funky basslines, a brass section combining with piano, and a hook-y pop chorus lef by Woolhouse interacting with a choir. It's easily his most ambitious cut yet.

But he's not all quite as celebratory as the above. The haunting beauty of some sides of his work such as the stunning 'Feel Real', we considered him the perfect person to stitch together a spooky Halloween party playlist to ensure house parties all over the country have some bangers to dance to.

It's quite a  rock 'n roll playlist mixed in with some hip hop and post punk. A deviation from his own more electronic output. With every song specifically themed around something spooky, it's the ideal accompaniment to your night next Monday. Check it out below now.
