After news emerged yesterday that Radiohead will headline Glastonbury for the first time in 14 years, it was great for everyone who's got a ticket. But for the fans left stuck on the phone with no answer it was no use. But up steps Open'er in Poland with a Radiohead performance creeping up just five days later.
The opportunity to see the band play from their new album A Moon Shaped Pool, and the miraculous back catalogue including Kid A, In Rainbows, and The Bends, can be had at just £125 for a four day camping pass or £107 without camping. That's approximately what Glastonbury cost when Radiohead last played there.
This is Radiohead's only confirmed gig for next year apart from Glastonbury, though we imagine that shall change as 2017 is likely to be dominated by their presence.
Radiohead will play this festival which began in 2002, on Wednesday 28 June, its opening night. The festival follows a similar pattern to Roskilde in Denmark, whereby there's four days of bands and the last night happens on Saturday, meaning no one's recovery day is Monday morning at work and the last night isn't full of people packing their cars just before the headliner. It's a better way.
This year Florence And The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, PJ Harvey, Tame Impala, The Last Shadow Puppets, The 1975, Bastille, Pharrell Williams, Chvrches, Wiz Khalifa and Skepta were amongst the acts who performed to the 80,000 capacity crowd on Poland’s coast.
Open'er is on 28 June - 1 July 2017. For more information check their website
