"We've always been a band that writes about real things", says New Found Glory frontman Jordan Pundik of the ever-youthful sound of the band after the departure of founding guitarist-lyricist Steve Klein. New Found Glory are a band of integrity, it's how their sound has maintained it's frivolity since the late 90s. However, the loss of a founding member didn't slow them down, their appropriately titled Resurrection album was well received by NFG fans worldwide.
When asked what they thought the fans expected of them, Pundik draws a blank. Little did he know he had answered that question earlier regarding the album's resonance: "The lyrics is honest, the music is honest," says guitarist Chad Gilbert: "You hear about bands losing a member and trying to overcompensate. I think with a less amount of instruments, we made it sound bigger".
We chatted to Chad and Jordan backstage at Reading about rebirth, the beginnings of punk, live expectations and the resonance of the new material.
