After various media outlets read too much into her self-deprecating Instagram post, Lorde has been forced to point out that she wasn't throwing "shade" at Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner.
The singer jokingly posted a painting of a woman on a boat, alongside the caption, "When you scroll through your feed and all the pretty famous boys and girls are on yachts or in saint barth's and you're at home where it's raining and you've never even been on a holiday to another country before, never been to a tropical island let alone saint barth's and actually you aren't even sure if you're spelling saint barth's right." (She wasn't).
Inevitably, because One Direction's Harry Styles and famous person Kendall Jenner had been photographed on that very island in the Caribbean, many took the post as a dig at the pair. It wasn't.
"lol no 'shade' folks," she added in an edit. "if i were on an island or in even nearish proximity to a yacht you would be hearing all the fuck about it just making fun of my own lameness [sic]."
As for Lorde's music - fingers crossed she'll release the follow-up to 2013's Pure Heroine this year.
