2015 was a fantastic year for music, but which single sold the most in the UK? Mark Ronson, OMI, Hozier, Adele, Justin Bieber, Ellie Goudling and Ed Sheeran were all strong contenders, but only one could take the top spot.
According to Official Charts, Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’ was the biggest track of 2015, selling 1.76 million copies. The song was actually released back in November 2014, totalling sales of 2.25 million as it stands. The track, which featured Bruno Mars, spent seven weeks at No.1, and remained in the Top 40 for 39 weeks.
OMI’s ‘Cheerleader (Felix Jae
hn Remix)’ was listed as the second most successful single of the year. It survived 14 weeks in the chart, despite entering the chart at No.96. 1.52 million copies were sold.
Hozier’s ‘Take Me To Church’ sold 1.25 million copies, despite never reaching No.1. The bluesy track peaked at No.2 for four weeks and has now been crowned the third most successful single of the year.
Ellie Goulding’s ‘Love Me Like You Do’, which featured in 50 Shades Of Grey, stole the No.1 spot from Hozier and remained there for four weeks. The single sold 1.19 million copies.
Wiz Kalifa’s Fast & Furious 7 tribute to Paul Walker, ‘See You Again’ snatches fifth place in the most sold singles of 2015, with 1.17 million sales and streams.
Adele, who broke records in her own right, earns sixth place in the list with 1.12 million sales, despite only releasing ‘Hello’ just over two months ago.
