Possibly on the advice of frontman Chris Martin's good pal Beyonce, Coldplay dropped a brand new surprise track yesterday (February 25).

'Midnight' signifies a marked change in sound for the band, who previously experimented with electronic sounds on 2011's Mylo Xyloto, but have taken it even further with this track. Produced by celebrated electronic musician Jon Hopkins, whose album Immunity was nominated for 2013's Mercury Prize, 'Midnight' is a downtempo, ambient track which has very little in common with any of Coldplay's back catalogue. 

'Midnight' has been widely compared to Bon Iver thanks to Chris Martin's distorted, high-pitched vocals, and it seems to (mostly) be going down a treat with fans, who praised the band for experimenting. Check out some of the responses below.
