Hurts returned to the live stage to premiere new material from their upcoming album Surrender last night (Tuesday 16 June). See footage and the setlist below.
The band performed at Scala in London, in the first of two shows to launch material from their third LP. With a choir of backing singers in tow and a stage covered in roses, it was back to melodramatic business as usual for for the Manchester synth-pop duo.
While the setlist leaned largely from their first two records, Happiness and Exile, the band did walk on stage to the backing of the title track of Surrender, before launching into their massive new single 'Some Kind Of Heaven' for the first time.
The band also debuted 'Rolling Stone' - a track that starts as a string-laden ballad before exploding into dramatic, synth-driven power chorus; in a similarly angry tone to the likes of 'The Road' and 'The Crow'. They also debuted new tracks 'Nothing Will Be Bigger Than Us' and 'Weight Of The World' - both packed with all of that classic Hurts drama and romance, but with a much more assured and progressive attitude.
