Last names are very important for solo artists. They need to be catchy and memorable, there's almost an essence of predestination involved for those that have particularly unique family names, like London singer-songwriter Gillbanks, for example.
And it's not just his inherited nomenclature that warrants us talking about him, his music is pretty damn engaging too. The latest cut, 'Tiffany', is a rough-around-the-edges fusion of DIY indie and classic songwriting with woozy swells that embrace everything that's great about bedroom recording.
The vocals are distinctly English, as is the song structure, but the off-kilter guitar lines and compressed guitars are indicative of this diaspora of emotional songwriters that are taking full-advantage of the DIY culture of 2015, the 'Bandcamp Bohemians' I like to call them.
