Last night, Chance The Rapper performed his new track 'Angels' on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Listen to the studio version and watch the performance below.
During the pre-performance interview, Stephen Colbert played clip of Chance's recent interview on Hot 97, jokingly confronting the rapper about spilling the beans on their secret collaboration. They then both teased that they were planning to release the mysterious song without any notice.
Colbert also spoke to Chance about his decision to continually release music for free, his expansive project Surf, with Donny Trumpet and The Social Experiment appearing on iTunes for absolutely nothing. On 'Angels', Chance raps, "I'm still at my old church / Only ever sold merch."
"Not making money is actually a growing business model," Colbert joked. Then, Chance dived into an energetic and dance fuelled performance of "Angels" alongside Saba and the Social Experiment. Colbert remained perfectly still at his desk while wearing a halo on his head. Lovely. The track itself is a victorios and rapidly paced anthem that's going to have people bouncing off the walls for quite some time.
