Slipknot guitarist Jim Root has declared he wants to hit the studio as soon as possible to keep his band's momentum going - as he's already writing new songs.
Having only released their fifth album '.5: The Gray Chapter' in October last year, Jim Root is adamant that the band get into the studio as quickly as possible. Slipknot have been notorious for taking a length of time between releasing albums, with .5: The Gray Chaptercoming over six years after their fourth album All Hope Is Gone.
Speaking to the Des Moines Register, Root speaks of his hunger to get a new album recorded. Since being fired from his other band 'Stone Sour' (of which Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor also sings for) Root has put all his attention into the next phase of Slipknot.
"We haven't been able to do two albums back-to-back since our first one and Iowa," hw said. "We're at a point in our career where the band is at the top of its game. If we take two years or however long, who knows if we could come back? Someone might decide they want to direct or write or other bands' projects might take priority"
Root goes on to explain his mindset; "I plan for the best and expect the worst. I started writing again. Hopefully the new songs will be on a new Slipknot record. If not, I'll find something else to do with them."
