T in the Park Festival has been given the go ahead to take place at Strathallan Castle, Perthshire following complications on environmental and local grounds.
The Scottish bash was under threat during its move from Kinross-Shire to Stathallan Castle this year, which proved more complicated than first thought. The concerns ignited other the ancient woodland in the area which had seen the arrival of protected ospreys.
DF Concert's Geoff Ellis said: "I don't think there is a venue, without going very far north in Scotland, which would be viable for T In The Park, so yes, I don't think it would carry on if we didn't host it at Strathallan this year."
Now the festival has been given the all clear and has been approved for the next three years, after a meeting with Perth and Kinross Council. Ellis said, "We’re happy that the committee has approved our application and our team can get on with the plans for a fantastic first year of T in the Park at Strathallan Castle.”
He also went to address the environmental concerns: "We also hope they will appreciate that it is our intention to continue to work with the relevant authorities and organisations to ensure the long-term protection and safe-guarding of the local environment surrounding Strathallan.”
"We’re now excited about welcoming an outstanding line-up and the best audience in the world to the most beautiful festival site in the country this July!"
