Spotify, the online music streaming service, has launched a new feature called Party. The new algorithm-based mode will automatically DJ for your next gathering by selecting tunes and beat-matching a playlist for perfectly smooth track transitions. So the music never has to stop and there will never be any of those awkward pauses while your bad self is getting down to the latest bangers.

Users can employ the mobile-only Spotify Party to create playlists in a certain mood and/or genre. The new mode will also adjust the pace of a playlist using the 'mood tuner' to suit the vibe of any given party.

What's more, Spotify has collaborated with Diplo, the 'Set Me Free' and 'Revolution' producer, to create a 120-track playlist for the launch of Spotify Party. And the streaming service has promised that there will be more DJ-generated playlists to come.

Spotify Party comes hot on the heels of Spotify Running – another new feature that automatically selects a playlist based on the rhythm and pace of your run – and Discover Weekly, which provides users with a specially-curated playlist every week. And all these new things have arrived just in time for Christmas. So, thanks, Spotify, you shouldn't have!
