Controversial AIDS drug profiteer and Wu-Tang rarity owner, Martin Shkreli, has reportedly been arrested on securities fraud charges relating to a firm that he started.
According to Bloomberg, the 32-year-old was arrested by federal agents in his home in Manhattan for allegedly taking stock illegally from Retrophin Inc. – a biotechnology firm he founded in 2011.
Shkreli has been accused of using the stock to pay off debts from other business dealings. He was fired from the company last year and then sued by its board.
“The guy says ‘…before his business practices came to light.’ What the fuck does that mean? I fucking make money," he said, reports The Independent. "That’s what I do. That’s why I can fucking afford a f***ing $2 million album. What do you think I do, make cookies? No, motherfucker. I sell drugs. [Laughs] I felt insulted.”
This year, he earned the label of “most hated man on the internet” after buying the rights for AIDS drug Daraprim before jacking up the price from $13.50 to $750 per tablet. That’s a 5,455% increase, to be precise.
It was later revealed that Shkreli is the owner of the singular copy of Wu-Tang Clan’s sought after record, Once Upon A Time in Shaolin. The album, which has a copyright that prevents it from being released to the public until 2103, is believed to have sold for millions of dollars.
Wu-Tang fans look away now, but it is reported that Shkreli is still yet to listen to the album, instead saving it ‘for a time when he’s feeling low and needs something to lift his spirits'.
Meanwhile, it's legally up to Bill Murray to rescue the album from his evil clutches.
