Forthcoming film adaptation of cult novel Kill Your Friends has been compared to Amerian Psycho and has had rights bought by Well Go USA.
The film, which is set to star Nicholas Hoult of Skins fame, James Corden and Craig Roberts (Submarine), has a rough release date of early 2016 after being bought out.
Hoult will play brutal A&R man Steven Stelfox who experiences a peak of success on the high tide of Britpop, which eventually sees him crash as the music industry changes which turns his methods violent in a desperate attempt to salvage his career.
As Variety reports, president and CEO of Well Go USA Doris Pfardrescher exclaimed her excitement for the movie: “If you loved music in the 90s, and you liked ‘The Player,’ ‘Swimming with Sharks’ and ‘American Psycho,’ it still doesn’t come close to describing how savagely brilliant this movie is. The way it skewers every part of the music industry is outrageous and hysterical.”
Well Go has expressed their desires to take the film around the festival circuit this summer. Author of the novel John Niven, has also taken up scriptwriting duties which producer Gregor Cameron has called 'exceptionally sharp and funny.'
The movie will also feature songs by Radiohead, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Oasis and Blur.
