Florence Welsh has revealed her awkward meeting with Neil Young, where he mistook her for a "man with a high voice".

The pair met in October last year at Young's annual Bridge School Benefit Concert; a charity show held in California where Florence and The Machine performed.

She told Rolling Stone, "[Young has] got such incredible energy. He said that when he first heard my record, he thought that I was a man with a high voice... He was like, 'I live in the mountains. I don't know much media".

"I just thought you were a man called Florence. And I was like, 'Hey, that's pretty punk.'?' I was like, 'Thanks, Neil. Thank you so much'."

Florence and The Machine will release their new third album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful in June, with the track listing as follows:

1. Ship to Wreck
2. What Kind of Man
3. How Big How Blue How Beautiful
4. Queen of Peace
5. Various Storms & Saints
6. Delilah
7. Long & Lost
8. Caught
9. Third Eye
10 St Jude
11 Mother

Fresh from a raptuously received performance at Norwich's One Big Weekend, Florence + The Machine's only UK festival date is at Glastonbury. The Vaccines'  Justin Young recently expressed many people's frustrations that Florence isn't headlining the Sunday night at the festival. "I know she's playing anyway, but people are complaining about the lack of women at the top of festival bills and the lack of new artists" he told NME. "There's a great artist who's huge as well and progressing in more than one sense of the word. Whether that's your thing or not I think it would've been a really big statement if Glastonbury put her at the top of the bill."

Florence + The Machine are also playing a number of European festivals this summer. For tickets check out the details here.
