Oasis may not reform for 20 years according to Alan McGee, the man who first signed them to Creation Records.

McGee cast doubt on the reunion that many had been predicting would happen later this year.

''Liam and Noel are the happiest I've seen them in years so for that reason I can't see a reunion happening" McGee told The Mirror. "I've met Noel on numerous occasions recently and bumped into Liam a few times and we've had lengthy conversations and a reunion has never been discussed ... (But it could happen at) some point in the next 20 years.''

He also cast doubt on those who have spectulated that the feud between them is just to drive ticket sales. ''It's as real as it gets. They are not showbiz-y people like that. When they say something, they mean it. When Liam's calling Noel Katie Hopkins he really means it.''

McGee is far closer to Noel than he is to Liam but, as the man who first discovered the band at a gig at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow in 1993, he has a unique insight into the band. ''I haven't got Liam's mobile phone number any more - I have Noel's - but not Liam's," he continued. "That's not because I don't like him, because I do. It's just because I don't have anything in common with him any more. Liam is lovely. He's actually a real gentleman. But we have separate lives."

McGee did however say that it would be worth the wait if the band did get back together: based on his experiences seeing another act who know all about ugly feuds."I saw The Who a few years ago at the Royal Albert Hall and they were every bit as good as when I saw them in 1972. That taught me something about comebacks."

Whether McGee personally would go and see the band reunite is tricky point. "I wouldn't even go to see them. I suppose if they toured and somebody told me their gigs were incredible I might go but only if I knew it was going to be great."

Recently Noel discussed the ugly fallout in Oasis with Noisey. Asked about disagreements with his brother Gallagher remembers that on a number of occasions he would be left to appease audience members during Oasis performances. "I remember countless gigs where three songs in he'd just pop his fucking headphones out and just get off. You'd be doing a guitar solo and you'd get to the end of the song and think 'It's not that mad for him just to disappear during the guitar solo and not sing the rest of the song - he's obviously gone back to fix his sunglasses or something'.

He also shot down the idea about the Oasis reformation rumours in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. "There was a rumour last week that we've had a gentleman's agreement [to reform], but that rumor's come from his people." He went on to label his chaotic Brother as 'disingenuous' to Oasis fans: "He always gets their hopes up...It's always up to me in interview to let the kids down."

Noel Gallagher will have a spectacular summer ahead of him including summer headline spots at Latitude Festival, Calling Festival and Summer In The City.
