Five people have been admitted to North Manchester General Hospital after injesting poppers at Parklife festival last weekend (June 5-7), a substance which is usually sniffed.
According to The Independent four of the five have now been discharged, however one 26 year old woman remains receiving treatment. 400 bottles of the 'legal high' drugs have been claimed by police over the weekend.
Chief Inspector Gary Simpson said in a statement: “We are now extremely concerned that people are drinking poppers and this poses a significant risk to life and would urge anyone using, or considering using them or any 'legal high' to cease from doing so immediately, before it's too late. Anyone who has consumed any of these substances is urged to seek medical help immediately."
He went on to say: "We are investigating the sale of these poppers and I want to stress the seriousness of selling or distributing 'legal highs' and warn people that we will not tolerate it."
The festival sent out a warning of the extremely dangerous consumprion on Saturday (June 6)

The weekend saw the likes of Disclosure, Rudimental, Grace Jones and Mark Ronson performing at Heaton Park in Manchester. There were 55 arrests regarding drug offences, theft and assault with no major incidents.
