Bloc Party have updated us all on the progress of their fifth album by sharing a video which shows the band working away in the studio.

The band shared the video across their social media, exciting fans by showing them making progress on the foolown up to 2012's Four.

The band's frontman, Kele Okereke stated back in March that they had officially started working on a new LP, but this is the first insight we've been goven into just how they're doing without bassist Gordon Moakes and drummer Matt Tong who left the group before the recording started.

You can watch the video from Bloc Party below:

The band, now Okereke and guitarist Russell Lissack, have promised an album "that sounds like nothing that we've done before but everyone says that' and said he had about 18 song ideas that he was looking "to lay them down properly in the next few months."

Fair warning: Okereke described the new material as "an evolution of where we were", saying, "So far there's nothing that I can compare it to really in terms of other musicians, whereas in the past I always could - we were always trying to reference something else." It all promised to be very intriguing.

Bloc party will play their first gig in two years at the LA's FYF festival in August.
