Fleetwood Mac shared their headline slot at the Isle Of Wight festival yesterday with a teddy bear, sent to the main stage in tribute of a young man who died before he could attend the weekend.

A campaign was set up to remember Kyle Birch, a 26 year-old man from Portsmouth who died suddenly in his sleep before he was due to go the festival. Spread by Facebook, the capmaign aimed to get the soft toy on stage with the sunday night headliners to pay tribute to Birch - and it worked.

Fleetwood Mac propped up the bear by Mick Fleetwood's drum kit for much of their set and Stevie Nicks held it on stage, too.

The success was down to Kyle's cousins Chloe and Rebecca Mudie who boosted the campaign on Facebook. Mr Birch's uncle, Mark Mudie, said the girls had "done great", adding "It's fantastic. I am so happy for Kyle and for everyone," reports the BBC.

The bear became quickly known amongst social media and lots of festival goers rallied around the cause."What's great about it is how many people have been involved. There was a groundswell, it brought everyone together," Mark Mudie commented.

People were encouraged to take selfies with bear and share them in order to celebrate Kyle's life, who is thought to have suffered from sudden adult death syndrome.
