Arctic Monkeys have been named the Best Live Band in the world by this year's O2 Silver Clef Awards.
The Sheffield foursome beat off strong competition form the likes of Foo Fighters, Kate Bush, Royal Blood, Prince and Arcade Fire. They now follow in the footsteps of the likes of Justin Timberlake and One Direction in picking up the prize.
“Thanks to everyone who voted for us and helped us win this year's Nordoff Robbins Best Live Act Award at the O2 Silver Clefs," said the band. "It's a real honour to be chosen. Congratulations to Nordoff Robbins on their 40th birthday and for all the incredible work they do using music therapy to help people."
The full list of nominees was:
Alt-J
Arcade Fire
Arctic Monkeys
Bruno Mars
Disclosure
Dolly Parton
Ed Sheeran
Foo Fighters
Kate Bush
Pharrell
Prince
Royal Blood
Rudimental
Sam Smith
Taylor Swift
The band haven't played live since November 2014, with the last update on new material coming from Alex Turner back in summer when he said he'd "written a few things, but I'm not in a hurry," adding "I wouldn't think it'll be too soon that we do the next one."
Last year saw Arctic Monkeys headline Reading + Leeds Festival. Since then, Turner has been seen guesting with Mini Mansions and dancing in Hyde Park with Miles Kane.
