After causing controversy by saying, "I genuinely believe that I make better music [than Frank Ocean]" Miguel has released a statement addressing the backlash.
The American R&B singer released his third album, Wildheart, at the end of last month. The album drew comparisons with The Weeknd and Frank Ocean, whose debut album Channel Orange was critically acclaimed and to whom Miguel lost a Grammy in 2013.
Speaking to The Times of Ocean, Miguel said: "I wouldn't say we were friends. To be completely honest - and no disrespect to anyone - I genuinely believe that I make better music, all the way around. It's interesting, but we'll see who's in it for the long haul. It's like a marathon, you know?"
He's since released a statement on Twitter to "clear the air", which insists, "There's no need to compare apples to oranges."
