Dave Grohl continues to be the nicest man in rock and Foo Fighters remain thoroughly awesome, playing a special gig for Italian fans who launched a viral campaign to bring them to town.
The band were performing in Cesena to reward 1,000 local musicians - who in unison came together on drums, guitars, basses and vocals covering the 1999 hit 'Learn To Fly' from the Foos' third studio album, There Is Nothing Left To Lose. The video was filmed in an effort to get Grohl and Co. over to Italy to play a gig in the local area. It went viral and the band fell in loved - responding with a huge gig, that finally happened last night.
“To see you people, singing our song for the whole fucking world, to me, it’s the greatest moment of my life,” Grohl told the crowd. “Of course we couldn’t say no, we had to come. You trapped us, we had to come here.”
He continued: “I hope you do the same thing for U2, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, do it for all rock bands. And if they say no, you know what you say? Vaffanculo!” (which translates to 'fuck you').
