Old Spitalfield Market will once again host the Independent Label Market this Christmas, which is home to vintage gems and rare collectables. This year, that'll include gems from Bjork, The 1975 and Wolf Alice.
Included in this Christmas special will be a virtual reality headset experience of Bjork’s music video to “Stonemilker”. Vinyl lovers will also have the opportunity to pick up a rare blue swirl pressing of an Unknown Mortal Orchestra vinyl, as well as first test pressings of The 1975’s “Medicine” and a copy of Wolf Alice’s “You’re A Germ”. A clear Belle & Sebastian vinyl will also be up for grabs, as well as a white Nils Frahm vinyl.
ILM will also be endorsing #LetItBeeb – a campaign that fights against the decimation of BBC music services and funding cuts. Market-goers and artists will have an opportunity to sign the petition and show their support on the weekend. The campaign was organized on behalf of the British music industry by UK Mu has the backing of Sir Paul McCartney and AIM.
Independent record labels will man the market stalls, showcasing their best artists in a variety of formats. Expect an abundance of signed merchandise, back catalogue items and early pressings. The record labels include One Little Indian, Late Night Tales and Dirty Hit.
Of course, ILM wouldn’t be the same without London Brewers’ Market preventing it from going dry. Cast ale and local beer will be flowing as long as the vinyl is spinning.
In keeping with the festive atmosphere, ILM will be hosting a live DJ set as follows:
