The Stone Roses’ frontman, Ian Brown, has officially confirmed that the band are currently working on new material.

As previously reported, the band sparked a social media frenzy last night when they were photographed at Paul Epworth's Church Studios in Crouch End.

Speaking to NME outside the studio last night (23 March), Reni said, "I'm recording," before adding, "I can't tell you anything because I'll get my arse kicked." A representative for the band was more reticent, saying, "There's no comment. Sorry not to be more help."

In a new interview, when asked about the new material and how the process is Ian Brown, said: “Like a dream”. When asked when fans of the band can hear the material Brown simply said, “Soon”.

This would be The Stone Roses first released material since their 1994 album, “Second Coming”.

Fans have been demanding new music since the band announced a string of live shows this summer.

The Stone Roses will be playing the following dates.

Tokyo, Nippon Budokhan (June 2, 3)
Manchester, Etihad Stadium (June 15, 17, 18, 19)
New York, Madison Square Garden (June 30)
T In The Park (July 8)
Dublin, Marlay Park (July 9)
