Madonna has extended her record as the world's highest grossing solo recording artist, having sold more than a million tickets for her latest tour alone.
The singer wrapped up her Rebel Heart Tour in Sydney earlier this week after several months around the world. It wasn't an entirely smooth run of shows - she called her Manchester fans "diva bitches" and her own team switched off her power when her Glasgow show ran late - but the O2 Arena performance we attended was pretty phenomenal.
Regardless of the wobbles along the way (just last week, she accidentally exposed a fan's breast on-stage), the tour grossed $169.8 million from 1,045,479 tickets sold at 82 performances. As Billboard reports, the top grossing venue was Tokyo's Saitama Super Arena, where $9.6 million was earned at two sold-out shows.
This means she's further solidified her status as the highest-grossing solo touring artist. Based on the publication's Boxscore archives that stretch back to 1990, her overall concert grosses reached $1.31 billion.
She's one of only six artists, and the only woman, to have topped the $1 billion mark since 1990. See the top grossing touring acts below.
The Rolling Stones — $1.84 billion
