Coldplay played Hackney Church last night, the smallest venue they’ll be performing in before they embark on an extensive 2016 world stadium tour in support of new album, A Head Full Of Dreams.

The harmonious and uplifting sounds from the band’s seventh LP echoed through the pews at the Annie Mac hosted exclusive Radio 1 show, with close family members and celebrities like Simon Pegg and Abbey Clancy in attendance to witness Chris Martin and co in their element. The 17th century church was a pretty spectacular setting for a night of celebration and new material.

Regardless of its tiny capacity, the band still used an audacious light show with beaming lasers and a confetti machine that would probably dramatically liven up any dreary Sunday morning service.

The band didn’t speak a great deal throughout the hour long set and returned to the stage for encore that included a happy birthday to their manager and their 2010 Christmas song, ‘Christmas Lights’.

They went on to round off proceedings with Bing Crosby's ‘White Christmas’, briging the evening to an appropriately sentimental night for a band who many think are back in their element.

Coldplay played:

A Head Full of Dreams
Clocks
Paradise
Magic
A Sky Full of Stars
Everglow
Charlie Brown
Fix You
Hymn for the Weekend (live début)
Viva La Vida
Adventure of a Lifetime
Up&Up

Encore:

Christmas Lights
White Christmas (Bing Crosby cover)

Coldplay recently announced that they'll be giving their fans a unique opportunity to become involved with their new album's artwork, while NFL fans aren's happy about the band's announcement that they'll be playing at next year's Superbowl.
